Arien is a bit of an all rounder. He’s intelligent and loves books, facts and scientific information. But he also loves to climb trees, soccer and bike riding. All those lovely & typical boy things.
Arien is 11, but seems so much wiser, deeper & more confident than most kids his age. During our session, he posed perfectly like he was a model for a catalogue. We even named one of his poses…The Connor! You can see in his portraits that he has confidence, but there is also a little vulnerability to him in some. It was a lot of fun working with him actually, I hardly had to direct him at all. He even made suggestions which was awesome!
Arien has a very gentle and loving personality that I feel comes out in his beautiful smile and his lovely deep brown eyes.

When we had his Reveal & Ordering Appointment, he pointed out aspects of the portraits that he loved. Commented on my choice of processing some in black & white. And knew which he loved & wanted as Artwork. The whole time complementing me on my work. Again I had to remind myself that he is only 11 years old. He’s a bit of an old soul.
I was glad to have some good pictures of myself and thought the process helped me open up a bit and discover things about myself.

[I hope] he finds happiness and fulfilment and follows his dreams.

I was thinking how important it is to show teenagers that they are “worth “ something. To show how the person who they are inside is worth something. Often for teenagers we buy them tech or clothes etc, but a photo shoot with someone who is focused on who they are inside is going to help them to see their own worth. Especially if they can really feel free to express who they are in a comfortable setting and have this then mirrored back to them in the form of a photo which can sit on their wall kind of like a mirror of their inner self and they can see it and say hey, yeah, that’s me, and it’s worth framing. I am worth being portrayed in an artwork on the wall.

In this day and age, where kids are on social media and everyone on TV & online is perfection, it’s easy to see how children can feel self-conscious in their own bodies. This is why I created this Campaign for kids aged 10-16, which I call: You Are Perfect.
I want to instil a sense of self-worth, confidence & beauty during a time when children can dislike their appearance & feel very self-conscious. I want them to feel empowered in knowing that they are beautiful inside & out, and I want them to have portraits to remind them of this.
So, if you have kids between the ages of 10-16, I would LOVE for you to apply for the You Are Perfect Campaign. If you are chosen, you will receive a complimentary portrait session and your favourite image as a thank you for participating. Click the button below to apply!
